Assignment 1-VLOG UTM DIGITAL Open Day

Our task in hand was to create a video blog for the UTM Digital Open Day where it comprises an introduction of UTM Digital and the people at UTM Digital that we interviewed. They explained to us all these cool features about the UTM Smart App. A second video showed key digital initiatives and services developed to support the campus community. I had a first-hand experience on how electronic resources are developed and utilised in an academic environment (UTM Smart App), which also allowed me to refine my interview techniques and interpersonal skills. As a result of this experience, I learned more about the potential use of digital transformation in businesses and how important user-friendly technology is.

Assignment 2-Poster for PPG Industrial Talk

This poster summarizes insights gained from an industrial talk by PPG. This talk focused on how digital transformation and data driven decision making can support a global organization. The session mainly highlighted the use of cloud platforms, SAP S/4HANA, AI-driven operations, and strong security practices to enable efficiency in a business. Attending this talk provided my friends and me with valuable real world exposure. It also highlighted the importance of skills in cloud computing, data management, and cybersecurity. This talk motivated me to be better in my academics so that I can better satisfy the future industry's expectations.

Assignment 3- Report about Industrial Talk 2

The corporate talk on coordinating projects and software development is covered in this report. The speaker started by sharing his career path and the difficulties he encountered when putting his academic skills to use in a practical business environment. He then briefed us about the basics of project management and the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). He explained that these tools are not rigid frameworks but practical tools used to keep projects on track. They are widely used in many different areas of computer science, including programming, networking, and cybersecurity. The report also describes how these ideas are used in educational institutions like UTM. The report further shows the significance of interpersonal skills, including communication and collaboration, since we can get work done faster this way. Analytical thinking is important when things don’t go as planned. Time and resource management are crucial since tasks in the corporate world always involve deadlines. Technical expertise like to know how to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical environment, is important. In general, this industry discussion encouraged undergraduates to make the most of their college experience in order to better qualify for real-world business difficulties and reaffirmed the importance of understanding system development procedures at a young age.Overall, this talk was really beneficial for not only my academics but also my career.

Assignment 4: Newsletter about visit to Johor Port

The industrial visit to Johor Port Berhad gave us a firsthand look at how ICT is integral to its daily operations, turning it from a traditional port into a more efficient port, a SMART port. Throughout the tour, it became clear that digital systems are no longer just support tools, but a core part of how the organization runs its daily business. During the visit, we got a clear look at several important systems in Johor Port’s daily operations, like the Marine Smart Integrated System (MSIS), Johor Port Container Terminal System (JCTS), ERP RAMCO, and the Port Access Management System (PAMS). This system streamlines workflow and reduces manual tasks. This, in turn, reduces labour costs and allows those funds to be used elsewhere. Data also flows smoothly across every department. Seeing how these systems work together helped illustrate how large-scale operations rely on well-integrated technology to stay productive. The visit also highlighted real challenges faced by modern ports, particularly the growing risk of cyberattacks and operational delays caused by manual processes. From a reflective standpoint, learning about cybersecurity measures like the Security Operations Center (SOC) emphasized how critical system protection is in environments that operate around the clock. The use of low-code platforms was another interesting takeaway, showing how organizations can develop and adapt systems more quickly without sacrificing reliability. Overall, the trip gave us a firsthand look at how a real organization leverages data systems, keeps its infrastructure running reliably, and implements strong security measures to keep operations smooth. It was one thing to learn these concepts in class, but seeing them in action made it click. Connecting theory to practice in a way that was both practical and eye-opening.
